THE CARROLL CASE.
TWO YEARS' HARD LABOUR. THE MAXIMUM SENTENCE. The decision of tlic District Courtniartial which tried Francis Joseph Carroll at Pulmorston yesterday on a charge of alleged desertion from the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces has been delivered. The Court has sentenced Carroll to two years' imprisonment with hard
labour. This sentence has been confirmed and promulgated by the officer commanding the Wellington Military District, Col. Hume, who is the confirming authority. The sentence, is the maximum one the Court-martial could impose.
