In committee, in the House Sir Joseph Ward's amendment to exempt all teachers, including Marisfc Brothers, from military service, which was: carried by 36 votes to 32, was mainly a party division. The Liberals voted with Sir Joseph Ward, also two or three of the Reform Party, which gave him a majority. Had Messrs W. 11.
