CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.

Tlie anniversary social and prize-giv-ing of Congregational Sunday School took place in the .schoolroom last evening, when there was iv very large at--1 tendance of scholars and parents. An ample tea. which■ wgts; provided by the ladies of the Church, was partaken of by the children, alter which a concert evening and prize-giving- took place. The Rev. Mac Donald Asplancl presided. The annual report slated that the roll number was about the same as last year, the average attendance' being •15. Fifteen scholars .succeeded in gaining prizes during the.year. The school sobered a serious loss during the year in the person of sjrs Roe, who has neon a member for the past 15 years, and site has been greatly missed by her fellow teachers. At the commencement of the year an individual register system was introduced, so as to give the parents a knowledge of how Die children stood in (heir classes, and now that the system is in working order the cards will he taken home once a month by the scholars for (he parents’ perusal. Eleven candidates entered lor tlie Scripture examination, six gained hi first, prize each, three second prizes, and two third prizes, making the satisfactory average of 78 per cent.. Contributions to - the programme were made by Mavis ..Smith, Daisy Edwards, and Rosie Edwards, while a pretty tableaux entitled ‘‘The Sleeping Beauty” and a dialogue completed Ihe programme. A present a turn of a silver entree dish was thru made to Mrs Roe, in recognition of her past services, after which the presentation of prizes took place. The prize for highest- marks in all grades during the year was gained InMiss Lexie Rage, Miss Nellie. Cullen being a good second. The programme was arranged by Mrs Rage and Miss S. Hall, to whom special praise is due for coaching the children and staging- the tableau*:.
