Tho company of local amateurs known as “Tlit' Irrcsistiblcs” need oiler no apology for niakiiip: tlieir appearsj n<-.* last evening, and il tlieir enlertiaiimieiit hud no other object, it served lu uncover, new Helds of talent, which, with further development, will form an ;n ccpiable addition to Palmerston s musical circles, 'the general scheme ol the concert, which, by the way, was given in aid ol the Childrens Home, was based on the costume principle, which is the vogue with many professional companies, and there were several items in which the whole personnel took part, which were quite enjoyable, the colour scheme of the dressing and stage effects enhancing the general success. As might he expected Iroin an initial performance, there were a lew delects which will, no doubt, he overcome. Delays between several ol the items, and the length of some of the encore numbers, served to extend the programme unnecessarily. W ith this remedied, the Irresisitihles are capable .cl producing a bright and clever little show, and last night’s function has cleared the ground for further future .successes. The company opened with iwo choruses. “Are we all hero’’ and “!>v the sea,” and they made quite a hit" later in “Monterey," Miss Nielsen .singing the solo very tuuelully. Miss AVahson is an established favourite; and

rile sax)rod a popular success in her M'lu, “God Send You lltTok to Alt',” and “Pack F» Your Troubles.” in which the company gave excellent support, was one of the host- items of the evening. .Miss Fulton was associated with Air B. Frooth is a versatile member ol the* party. Her solo, “Dream Girl, ’ in which a little dream girl, Aliss P. Keeling-, in this instance, miters and dances delightfully, was followed by a rather original “Baby ‘Stunt,” of which she gave a good impersonation. Aliss Nielsem took the solo work in two fine .song-choruses, and Alias E. Kirk in another, which were :d! good items, and .Miss Keeling, who had previously given a taste ot her quality as a dancer, danced “The Dragon Fly.” a creation affording ample opportunity for the aspiring performer. Two little, girls also gave a pretty dance, “Pierrot and Pierrette.” Mr Jackson, whu Saitg “Carolinaand Air Bowater, “I Come Co Smiling,’” were the other contributing members. Tin* company had the valuable assistance of Air Percival Dodds, of Dannevirke, and Privates Keaney, Lane and Ait-ken. Air Dodds, whoso vocal efforts delighted a Palmerston audience on a previous occasion, was heard at his host in “A’ lit tile Bit, of Heaven,” and lie was paid the compliment, of a “request” to re-’ peat the song later in the evening, in addition lo which he gave, several encore. numbers. Private Keaney is n man of many parts, tells a good story and sings in between. He was encored on each appearance. One ol the gems of the evening was Private Aitken’s singing of “Mountains of Monte,” Possessed ol a capital voice. Private Aitken utilised a, fine sympathetic feeling into his song, and his elloft was deservedly encored. Private Lane is another good singer. amMu’s interpretation of Tosti’s “Gond-byo” was quite a success, and a focall resulted, Mr E, Smith's orchestra supplied good musical support to "the entertainment, and the <-ceoinpauimenlf. wore played by .Misses Lett and Graham.
