ST. JOHN AMBULANCE NURSING GUILD.

'Dm seventh annual meeting of the Guild was held this afternoon, the Mayor (Mr <l. A. Nash) presiding. There was a fair a I tendance of members. ANNUAL REPORT. The committee presented its annual report as follows: The past year has been one full of iliter m to the committee. A great deal has been accomplished in regard to the new lion Refer the nurse. Handsome donations were received from* local sympathisers and which was duly acknowledged, also donations foull the Borough Council. Hospital Board, Kairanga Bounty Council, etc., with the result that about £IOO is now owing on the property, besides providing a house for the nurse. An office waa included for outdoor patients, and which has assisted the nurse very much in her work. Your committee anticipate being able to pay oh the remaining debt on tlio home during the coming year. As Sister Maclean had not returner! from active service abroad. Nurse Darling carried on her work in a most satisfactory manner until her return in May of this year. On Sister Maclean’s return she again look up the work, and the committee wishes to place on record their appreciation of her action iu volunteering for active service ai a time when the country required her services. The committee also desire* to place on record the good work done by ISist-er Maclean and Nurse Darling during the year, and much suffering has been relieved by their untiring efforts. One thousand two hundred and thirty-seven visits have been paiil to 199 patients. There were nine deaths, mostly chronic cases of long-stand jug. Four maternity cases were attended. The committee wishes to thank the medical practitioners for assisting during the year, also the sisters of the- nursing division for carrying on the work during the nurses holidays, and those friends who supplied clothing and provisions for the patients, the public in general, and the press for their hearty support, also Aliss F. George a.ml her pupils from Wellington, who gave a Concert- lt> augment the funds of the Guild. The Mayor, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said the posi lion to-day was that 111 - Home_ was j'lol Ms 6d overdraw n, but considering i veryI fling, he thought there was every reason for congratulation. He remarked on the large number of visits made- by the district nurse, which showed that the appointment of a. nurse was more than justified. Thanks were due to the various collectors and Miss George, who had given a concert in aid of the Guild. Sister Maclean had now returned from duly abroad, and thanks were due to Nurse Darling, who had carried on the work in Nurse Maclean’s absence. The position of the Guild generally was most satisfactory. The motion was seconded by Mr J. A. Mel.eavey, and carried. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Mann der for carrying out certain work at the Home free of charge. All last year’s officers wore re-elected to odice, with the exception of Mr F. ,1. Oak ley. w ho resigned from the committee owing to being unable to attend meetings_ through pressure of business. The election of a member of committee to (ill the vacancy was held over till next meeting. On the motion of the Mayor, a vote of thanks was passed to the secretary (MrAilcliison). the treasurer (Mr McLeavey). and all who had assisted during the past vea r.
