GERMAN WIRELESS MESSAGES. i Received October 24. 2.10 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 23. The Press Bureau gives the total casualties in Friday’s air raid as: Killed, 34 ; injured, 56. A wireless German official message says: Anglo-French forces penetrated deeply into our defences at the southern edge of Houthulst Wood, but coun-ter-attacks repulsed the enemy, whose gains were only three hundred metres deep and twelve hundred wide. The enemy’s assaults on Poelcapelle, astride the Ghelivelt road, failed. The enmy’s artillerying between Ailette and Brayo increased to a continuous drumfire in the morning. The French attacked at daybreak.
THE BETRAYAL OF GREECE. FORMER PREMIERS AND MINISTERS TO STAND THEIR TRIAL. Received October 24. 12.55 p.m. ATHENS. Oct. 23. The Chamber has agreed that tho following former Premiers and former Ministers shall be tried by tho High Court individually: M. Skouloudis, M. Dragoumis. At. Rail is, M. Gounaris, M. Miehaellidikis, M. Hatseoz, and General Sanakiha. FURTHER ITALIAN SUCCESS. Received October 24. 12.55 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 23. An Italian official message says:—Yesterday we drove back, with severe losses, a strong Aiistro-German attack on Mount Piano, in Cadore. We reconquered a position of the entrenchment which the enemy temporarily occupied.
