Mr Talbot (Temuka) asked the Minister of Customs: AVhoblior lie will take stops to ascertain the reason of the regulations! debarring the importation of sugar into Great Britain and Franco in the gift parcels sent to soldiers, and whether he will endeavour to have the embargo removed aft an early date? The Hon. Mr Myers (Minister of Customs) replied: The reason for the regulation debarring the importation of sugar into Groat Britain and Fiance is not definitely known, hut the prohibition is'supposed- to he due in some way in the scheme of rationing arranged by the Fond Controller. An endeavour has already been made by the PostmasterGeneral through the -High Commissioner to have the embargo removed, but the renly is that it is regretted that no exception can he made in favour of soldiers'' parcels, j
