SECOND DIVISION PROTEST.
i (Per Press Association.) I _ OAMAll'll, Oct. 21. 1 A mass meeting of protest against the inaclequate allowances to soldiers’ dependents, held last night, was largely attended. The Second Division League’s proposals were explained hy .Mr A. K. Lawrence, chairman of the local executin', and the llcv. Cyril Tocker. Mr Lee, M.P., attended, and discussed the pensions and allowances, and while supporting many of the League’s demands contended that the (lovermnent was faced with financial diliicnlties. A resolution was moved hy James Hodman, seconded by Andrew Aitken. and carried unanimously: “That this meeting expresses its dissatisfaction with the inadequate scale of allowances to outliers’ dependents, and in their interests urges the Cabinet to reconsider ilm question.” The speakers voiced strong condemnation of the Price Minister’s statements that the Second Division men were not playing the game, especially as the men were asking nothing lor themselves, but demand adequate allow a nee.-, tor their dependents’,
