AN APPEAL FROM FRANCE.

One thousand refugees are arriving daily, and are urgently in need o1 clothing;. The Minister of Defence re quested, through the Countess oi Liverpool, donations on be-half of tilt [ appeal, Mrs Cohen suggested sending money, instead of clothing, through the New Zealand War Contingent, Association. Tho money could be cabled Home, and assistance given much quicker than by sending clothes. Mrs Nash also favoured this idea, bin paid that whatever was sent would have to go through Lady Liverpool. Mrs Chaytor suggested asking the Patriotic Shop for a donation, as the call was so urgent, and on her proposal it was decided that donations he invited towards purchasing clothing ioi tho French refugees at Etrainbiers in response to Lady, Liverpool's, appeal, and that the Town and Country' Patriotic Women Workers hs asked whetiiet they will make a donation to the fund i'rom the recent Baby Carnival proceeds. It was also resolved, on the motion of Mrs Chaytor, that the "Irresistibles" be asked to repeat their, entertainment in aid of tho appeal, and that the, sale of sweets be left "to Mrs Trask to arrange. On the suggestion of Mr Nash, it tras also decided to ask the Patriotic Society for. a donation.
