A non-political movement has been launched with the object of obtaining another referendum on tho question of conscription. The movement is at present confined to New South Wales, from which State a petition will be presented to Mr Hughes. In tho Assembly Mr Laughlin gave notice of motion providing for tho introduction of preferential voting. MELBOURNE. Oct. 19. The seamen have decided to resume work to-day. . ~.'•'. Mr Hughes is summoning- the Minister for Labour for each of the various States to a conference to-consider.an'amendment in industrial legislation.
