COLLEGE STREET SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the College Street School Committee was held last evening, when the Rev. A. Doull (chairman) presided, and ?drs Crabb and Messrs P. Carville, S. Sanson, .1. Kilis. i S7. Hradfield, and 11. C. Do Grange were I present. I Mr Gerand sent ah apology for ab--1 senoe. ! Mr Hradfield reported that the time was too late for the planting of the hack portion of the school ground with potatoes, and that other conditions ; were unfavourable. j The. headmaster reported that the ’ roll number was 575 and that the average attendance for the last quarter was 510. Mr McNab commenced duty as pupil teacher on October Bth. No oppoiutment had been made in place of .Miss Bowater. An interim report wan given with reference to the proposed concert, and the committee was thanked and reappointed. with Mr Ellis as convenor. It was agreed that in view of the school’s average attendance for the -past quarter being 510 and the present number on the roll being 575, the school is severely handicapped through not having the regulation staff on the lower grade and that the Board be requested to appoint an additional pupil teacher at the earliest possible moment. The Board’s attention wan also called to the fact that tlfe, extra, windows and blinds for Standard 111. room, which wore authorised. won': still lacking. The school is to close on both days of the show. The. Visiting Committee's report was received. Arrangements were made to impress on the Board the necessity for a new and improved water service. Mrs Crabb and Mrs Gill were appointed a Visiting Committee for next month.
