A cable has been received stating that Private "Darby" Skinner, a former resident of Pnlmerston North, who went with the Australians to France, lias been wounded. A Dunedin Press Association telegram received this morning states that Mr William Ooull, aged 86, the last of three brothers of the printing firm of Coulls, ('idlings and Go., is dead. Mr A. Sutherland (president,), Mr R. M. McKnight (treasurer). Mr W. T. Penny (secr.tary), and several members of tho committee will represent, tho Manawatu A. ii ml P. Association at the TTawlce's Bay Siio'v nt Hastings next Tuesday. Amomrst, those reported to have been wounded is Private E. J. Hojran fsor.i of Mrs M. Hogan, Palmorston North), Private A. V. Bright (son of Mrs A. Bright, Otnki). Colonel R, Hcaton Rhodes, M.P., intends proceeding to England on behalf of the New Zealand Red Cross, and will leave the Dominion soon after the close of the session. Mr Rhodes expect* \<< return in March. Mr W. McKenzio, who has filled the position of secretary to the Manawatu Trotting Club for some years, tendered his resignation at tho annual meeting last evening. A generous tribute was paid to Mr McKen/.ie for his valued services, and he was unanimously elected a life member of the club. Mr and Mrs Magnusson, of 7 Snelson street, received word yesterday afternoon that their son, Second-Lieutenant 0. Magnusson, was wounded on October 4. This is'the second time ho had been wounded, the previous occasion being on October 3, 1916. The friends of Mr and Mrs Magnusson will wish their son a speedy recovery. Mrs Ackhurst, of Broad street, received the news yesterday that her husband, Ljeut (ieorge Ackhurst, of. the Wellington Infantry Battalion, had been killed m action on October 4th. The, deceased was formerly well known as a traveller throughout this district, and was later attached to the defence staff. After obtaining his commission ho went out with one of tho late reinforcement drafts, and his untimely death will be keenly regretted by a large circle of acquaintances. The late Lieut. Ackhurst, had also seen service in the Boer War and Boxer rebellion.

Private advice received at Christ, church says the Rev. G. S.,Bryan Brown, Anglican Chaplain to the New Zealand Forces, was killed in action last Thursday. He was prior to his departure for the front chaplain of Christ's College. He was a splendid athlote, and represented Canterbury in the cricket field, and was also prominent in hockey circles. He graduated at Cambridge, and was master at Loretto School, Musselburgh, before coining out to Christ's College. The Rev. Alfred North, who has been loii"- and honourably associated with the history and progress of the Baptist Church in New Zealand, and who is approaching the jubilee of his service as an ordained minister, is (says the Auckland Star) shortly retiring from the active ministry. Ho is at present in charge of the Baptist Church at Epsom. He was for some years the minister of the Hanover .Street Church at Dunedin, and also held the pastorate of Baptist churches in India and at Ponsonby (Auckland), and for two or three years was the organising secretary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand.
