PAYMENT ON THE HOOKS.

Mr Talbot (Temuka) is asking the Government, whether, in view of the shipping difficulty and the necessity of farmers receiving their money ior their produce expeditiously in order to meet taxation demands, they will impress upon the Imperial authorities the advisability of paying for frozen meat on the hooks in the works? Note.—At present farmers aro unablo to sell direct to the Government, and the business is being done largely through buying agencies and firms. This may not continue, and purchase on tho hooksi by the Government would say© tho position from a financial, agricultural and pastoral standpoint.
