RONGOTEA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The Autumn Show of the Rongotea and District Horticultural Society, to be held on Wednesday and Thursday next, promises to ocli])sc all previous efforts of the Society. Mr J. A. Nash. The Society have this year considerably increased the value of the prizes ottered in the chrysanthemums. The usual points prize of 10s 6d and 10s 6d each for the champions, white and coloured, are offered. There are two novice, classes, carrying prizes of 5s and 2s for first and second in each. For the collection of 12 varieties of Japanese a first prize of 7s 6d and second of 2s Cd are to he given, and in the thirteen other classes, the first prizes are each 2s 6d and second Is. Competition in school work classes, entries for which closed last Friday, is very keen, no loss than five schools having forwarded entries. For the fourteen classes concerned the total number of entries received was Hi 7.

While regretting the clash of dates, the committee were unable to alter the dates fixed as same had been decided on and all arrangements made before Bulls had decided on holding their Belgian Fete.
