TERRIBLE RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
MAORI CHILD KILLED. FOUR OTHER NATIVES INJURED. (PlB PBISS AB8O0UTIO1I.) TAUMARUNUT, Jan. 22. A terrible accident occurred this morning on the Taringamotu Timber Company's line. A, train of open trucks and a covered passenger car runs from Taringamotu to Waituhi with timber. The Maoris travelled on the open truck, and the pakehae in the covered car. Apparently the train ran oil' the line, arid the trucks overturned, killing j a Maori child, badly injuring its mother. ' and breaking the legs of two Maori women and the arm of another. Fortunately the covered van saved the pakehas, who escaped injury.
