WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

Tho Wonganui Education Board met on Wednesday evening. Present: Messrs F. Pirani (chairman), G. H. Bennett, E. Dixon, A. Frasor, T- A. Harris, and F. Purcoll. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs P. O'Dea and G. H. Guthrie, M.P. Bank Balance. —Tho bank balance at tho Bth September showed a debit of £2760 6s &d.

Acoounte. —Accounta amounting to £IBB2 2b 9d were passed for payment. Resignations.—Resignations were received from C. H. Murphy. S.T., Awahou South; P. H. Roche, H.T., Kakaramea; A. N. Blennerhassett, Aset., Momohaki; D; G. Hall, Asst., Victoria Avenue. Foilding.—lt was decided to repair the feeders at the Feuding Technical School. Cheltenham.—The foreman reported on the sanitary condition of the Cheltenham School grounds.—Referred to committee to report. Medical Inspection.—A confidential report was received from the Medical Inspector of Sohoolfl. Doulair.—"What it wants is some shavings underneath some kerosene," remarked tho chairman when reporting on tho condition of tho teacher's residence at Doulair. The Board was somewhat concerned a« to whether the building was worth repairing. "It's almost tho worst shanty I havo ever seen," the chairman said again. It was ultimately decided to spend £3O on the place.

Parewanui. —The Board authorised the expenditure of £35 for repairs to the Bohool and latrines. Taikorea. —The Board authorised the expenditure of £45 at the teacher's residence at Taikorea.

Turakina. —With regard to the site for ihe new school at Turakina Mr Purnell reported that the local committee was far from being unanimous on the point. He said he visited the »t« near the railway, but as ho had no definite information to lay before the Board, ho recommended that it be held over. —Agreed. Wangaehu.—The secretary reported n* to the negotiations that had taken place with regard to the new eohool site at Wangaehu. Omatane. —The Chief Inspector reported unfavourably on the establishment of a school at Omatane. He recommended that a tent bo erected during tho summer months. There were eight children of school age. Tho secretary suggested that, a shelter* shed school be erected. —Left with the wcretr.ry to deal with. Ridge. Road . With regard to tho application of the residents of Ridge Road for a school, the Chief inspector recommend**! that the applicants be asked to send their ohildren to Apiti.—Adopted. West End.—A letter was received from tho West End Committee with regard to the transfer of Miss Perrin.
