Lord Crcwp, in the Lords, announced that Government is prepared to assist to the Unionist request for appointment of a Select Committee to enquire into the growing manifestations of Nonconformist opposition to the Welsh disendowment proposals, and whether the constitution of Convocations of the Church of England have ever been altered by Act of Parliament without the assent and against the protest of the Convocation. Irene Carey, a suffragette, was arrested »t Nottingham during the King's visit. It is believed that she intended to destroy tho Royal stand. Lieut. J. C. Porte, of the British Navy, who is testing the Wanamaker aeroplane, has changed the route of the proposed trans-Atlantic flight. Instead of going from the Newfoundland coast to Queenstown he will go from St. John's, Newfoundland, to die Asores, and thence along the Spanish coast to North Qucenstown, adding 500 miles to the journey, but; taking a safer course. As a result of a fifteen-days' hunger strike at Hollysprings, Massachusetts, a prisoner under ten years' sentence in the penitentiary died in his cell in the county gaol. The prisoner had been convicted of cruelly ill-treating his young son. An automobile containing three men and two women, dashed over Floofoot Bluff at White Point, a few miles north of San Pedro. The bodies of all the victims were found on the ocean beach. The owner purchased the machine the previous day and had taken his friends for a ride. PARIS, June 25.
