HOSPITAL BOARD.

The following is the remainder of the business transacted at the meeting of the above yesterday. BURIAL ACCOUNTS. ( The Sub-Inspector of Police wrote that the account for the burial of a body found jjj the Gorge had not yet been paid. In reply *o Mr Nathan Mr Vincent said the o«pua County Council contended that they were not liable for the amount. Mr Nathan: But under the Act they are. After discussion the matter was left to Mr Vincent to bring before the Oroua County Council. The Board* received an account for the burial of the body of a man who was drowned at Rangiotu awhile back. The man was found drowned in the Wellington Board's district. On Mr Nathan's motion it was decided that the Board accept no liability for the amount. SYSTEM OF BOOK-KEEPING. The Secretary Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board forwarded the following resolution passed at a meeting on May 20:— "With reference to the suggestion by the Hospitam Department that the Hospital Boards albpt a certain system of keeping accounts, particulars of which they submit, other Hospital Boards be informed, that in the opinion of the Tarannki Hospital Board, there is no warrant for the adoption of the system in favour of which no evidence has been submitted and which has not, so far as the Board knows, received the approval or endorsement of any Association of Accountants or other qualified person outside the Department: whilst on the other hand this Board is satisfied the adoption of the suggested system would not only be no improvement, but would entail a very great increased cost of book keeping." Mr Nathan said that they should add their protest too. The proposed scheme made the work cumbersome, necessitating the keeping oi many extra books. He moved that they support the resolution.
