MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. ■ A meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Hockey Association was held last evening. The secretary reported that a number of ex-players had formed themselves into a team offering to play the senior team having a bye each Wednesday. It was decided to allow the team to play, as suggested. Ino secretary of the Feilding Association wrote stating that the Hoakoa Ladies' team desired a match with a Palmerston North team which might have a bye. As there was no bye in the ladies' competition, it was decided to refer the letter to the Jiigh -School Girls' Club, which might perhaps, be able to arrange a match for a Saturday. Permission was given Technical juniors to play Kilbirme juniors, at Wellington, on June 23. Tho New Zealand Ladies* Association wrote notifying that in the match with the English ladies team, no hooking or striking of sticks would be allowed. It was decided to prevent anv Club from taking part in the comi>ctitions" *hich had not paid its affiliation fee, and stop anv team from playing which come on to tho ground wjthout a white leather ball. The Wellington Association forwarded «. copy of a letter which it had sent to the iNew Zealand Association in connection with the challenge shield. The Wellington As Hociation desired this Association to consider tho advisability of requiring some definito qualification on the part-of an Association desiring to challenge for the New Zealand Hockey Association's shield. At present there was apparently no restriction preventing minor Association*, which were eligible to compete for the Nordon cup, from competing for the shield, and it was the opinion of the Wellington Association that in order to lessen the number of challenges to be met by the holders of the shield it was advisable to institute some such restrictions, lliey suggested (1) that no Association which was eligible for the Nordon Cup should be entitled to challenge for the shield except the holders of the cup for the time being, (21 that immediately the cup changed hands the right to challenge for the hield should change too. (3) that in the event of the cup holders being successful in thoir match for the shield, the cup should revert to the preVlou f ', ,oldor6 s° lh »t one Association could not hold cup and shield at th.< same time.— It was decided to support the suggestion.
