Mr Walter Perry, one of the pioneer settlers of the district, who arrived at New Plymouth with his parents in 1841, died at Masterton last evening, at the age of 75 years. He served in the Maori war in TaraJiaki. and was one of the first members of Masterton Borough Council. The death occurred at; New Plymouth this morning of Mr Clement W. Govett, after some days' illness (says a press wire). He was a son of Archdeacon Gpvett and was born in New Plymouth, educated in Auckland, and called to the English Bar in 1874.
