THE TAKAPAU CAMP.
DETAILS OF ARRANGEMENTS. Matters in connection with tho big diri«vrnal aimp to be held this year at Takapau are well under way. The mounted units and country companies go under canvas on April 27, all other unite following- on May Ist The camp breaks up on May 9th, to be followed on the 11th by the casual oarap. The unita going into, camp four days before the others are those which put in nc night parades during the year, or have parade** to make up. Col. E. W. C. Chaytor will be in command of the camp, which, for administrative purpose®, will bo sDlit up into brigade areas. There will be uie mounted brigade area, under Col. A. H. Russell; the infantry brigade area under Col. R. W. Tate; and the artillery brigade area (including the mountain battery and engineers; with the senior officer in onarge. Major Temperley will bo General Staff Officer; Captain G. T. Hall Orderly Offioer; Capt. J. T. Bosworth. Assistant Adjutant and QuartermasterGeneral \ Lieut.-Col. M. Bogg, Assisted Director of medical stores; Capt. N. C. Hamilton, Assistant Director of Supplies and Transport; Capt. G. C. Powles, Provost Manshal; Oapt. J. M. Rose, Divisional Musketry Instructor. The Standing orders intimate that th© "reveille" will be sounded at 6 a.m., the "retreat" at 5 p.m., "first post" 9.30 p.m. "last post" at 10 p.m., "lights out" ob 10.15 p.m.
Arrangement* have been made for & canteen, to be opened from 7 a.m. till 9.30 p.m., for each brigade area. Troops will hie allowod no leave from camp, unless provided with a pass furnished regimentally. Strict [jrecautions are to be taken bringing iquor into camp, and territorials found with it in their possession will be placed under arrest. Out-of-pocket expenses incurred by men proceeding to camp will bo refunded by the Department. The tectical operations of the various brigades will be extensive. On May 4th, the artillery will 00-operate with the mounted troops, and on tho Bth with the infantry brigade. The 6th has been set down for Sir lan Hamilton's visit, and the combined tactical exercises.
