It would be advisable to clean out the drain m the Rongotea-Loi gburn road before :tio winter fets in.

Kawa Kawa Riding.—The usual road maintenance work has been done in this riding during the past month. An old wooden culvert on the Taikorea road has been taken out and r< placed with concrete pipes. 'lhe drain !<•; <li:,<r through Mr Mudford's property at Rangiotu has been eJeaned out.

Carnarvon Riding.—The usual road maintenance work has been done on the River Hank lino in tho shape of trimming up a portion of the road and clavinrr the. ~n j near the Makowhai creek..' jVl'r Cookslev has not, yet commenced his contract for forming and metalling the Taikorea road, out expects to commerce the work in two ""f and a portion ot the formed Koputaroa road t-hould be re-formed.
