The article on "The Spelling Bee," savs Mrs Zelia Lock, in a letter to the Daily Telegraph, which appeared in your columns of June 26th, reminds me of'the story of an American editor, who tried to lick into shape the spelling of a country reporter. "How do you spell 'income'?*' he roayed one day; "you have got it 'incum.'..'. "Oh, yes!" innocently replied the culprit, "I have missed out the V" Still another story comes to hond. A little bay, writing home. said. "I have bean at the spelling bee, and spelled down everybody and won the meddle.''
