SUDDEN DEATH.
MESSAGE FROM THE SEA.
An old Wanganui Maori. Arona Kingi. aged about 70 years, who was related to several chiefs, died suddenly at Putiki pah •ozne time during Thursday night or Friday morning. He was suffering from asthma. and had removed from his own quarters to sleep in another wharo. It is supposed that he arose in the night to go back t<> his own whare. He was found about seven o'clock in the morning, lying dead on the ground with his blankets underneath him. The deceased was a well-known member of the Wanganui tribe.

AUCKLAND, May 12. A bottle was found at Parenga which oontained the following message, the blank* being left where the words are blurred-"Monday. S. 16. 1 p.m.. 1912: N. 4 DA is sinking by hurricane in 42 deg. B.L. 160 east G.M. ••- is dead everybody .'* Tho paper is apparently a aheet from a German log book.
