"WHEN FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE."
OTAGO'S RAILWAY XEKDS. (Peb Phess Association.) DUXEDIX. .Jan. 29. The Hon. \V. Fraser ami a party oi North Island members oi Parliament, who have boon visiting the Otsigo Contra! district since Thursday last, returned n> town this evening. A very pleasant trip wa6 experienced, the weather being fine with the exception ol one or two breaks. All the members were warm in praise of the hospitality of the settlers, and express themselves as agreeably surprised with the district, especially that extending from Clyde at the head of the Otago Central line. The possibilities of irrigation were fully demonstrated, and the visitors expressed themselves in favour of expenditure in this direction, and also on an extension of the line to Hawoa when fu/ids were available. The claims of settlers for the prosecution of the Lawrence line to Rox burgh were not so strongly supported, some members believing that to brine; the line within twelve miles of l{oxburgh would be sufficient. Others, however, think it could be completed in course of time, although there are more pressing needs in other parts of the Dominion.
