Dr. James Hudson,-of Tapawera, who was killed in-a motor car accident on Monday, was (states the Nelson Colonist) well known in Nelson, having practised in that city for nianv vears. He was born in London in 1854,"educated «t Hie Donas Grammar School, and graduated M.B. at ihc London University. He practised his profession in Kngland for some time, and ihen went, lo South Africa, where he was •n practice near Kimherley for two years. Shortly afterwards he came to New Zealand, and practised in Nelson , unlil he reloved to Tapawera a few years ago. Ho -.us a member of (he Nelson City Council Vom 1901 to April, 1905, when he resigned .n being appointed District Health Ofliccr 'ir Nelson and Marlborough. He married daughter of the late Rev. J. C. Andrew, c.f Mastcrton, in 1886, and leaves a widow Mid larirc family. During his residence in Tapawera Dr. Hudson took an active mInrest in the welfare of the community. He was secretary to the Motlieka Valley Horticultural Society, and was closely associated with church affairs. The deceased '.•entleinan was a brother of Mr \\. h. Hudson, of the New Zealand Government Life Insurance Department, Mr, &. \. Hudson, of the New Zealand Post and Tolcsrraph Department, and Miss Hudson, 0 f Wellington, who recently returned rom CWmany. The late Mr Charles Hudson, id, one time Assistant General Manager ol Railways in New Zealand, was also a brother.
