LONDON WOOL SALES, (By Electric Telegraph-Copyright.) (Per PnEBB Ahhooiation.) LONDON, Sept. 26. Tho wool sales opened briskly. Prices show from par to 7J,- per cent decline. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from London:— "There was a good attendance at tho opening of tho wool sales Tho catalogue was fairly representative. Competition by Home and Continental buyers was irregular. Prices as compared with closing, of preceding series ruled in buyers' favour. As compared with last sales' closing rates prices are about par to 5 per cent lower for Merino, about 5 per cent lower for coareo cross-breds, and about 5 per cent to 7£ per cent lower for medium cross-breds." Tho Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable from its London office, dated September 26th, 1911:--The sales have opened with strong competition, and largo attendance of buyers. Cross-breds, all kinds, prices are lower 5 per cent to 7g per cent; slipes, all kinds, prices are lower 5 per cent to 7A per cent; 65,000 bales Now Zealand available.

MARKET REPORT,

Harry Palmer reports on Saturday's sale as follows:—We had tho average entry of pigs of all classes, prices unchanged. Wcaners in demand most, especially well-bred ones, Tho entry of poultry was not large, and prices were high. We cannot supply tho demand. A heavy entry of produce was offered, including a large consignment of potatoes. There is a good demand for all vegetables, as they are very scarce. We quote: Pigs.—Weanors, 6s 6d, Bs, 8s 6cl, 9s, 12s 6d; stores, 12' Gd, 14s, 14s 6d, 15s, 18s 6d; porkers, 16s to 235; sow, 28s. Poultry.—liens, 4s 6d, ss, 5s 3d; oockerels, 5s 6tl, 6s; 'ducks, 5s 6d, all at per pair; hen and chicks, 6s 6d; chicks, Is per pair. Produce.—Table potatoes: Stars, 6s, 7s: Dates, Bs. 9s; seed do., Stars, 6s; Dates, 9s; Gold Coin, 10s; Sutton's Abundance; 10s; Puritans, Bs. Parsnips, 6s; carrots, 4s 6d; wheat, 16s; pollard, ( 13s; pig-meal, lis, all at per sack, jacks extra; onions, 7s cwt; bacon, 8d per lb; rhubarb, 6s per dozen; new potatoes, 3d per lb. Wo sold a largo quantity of harness, saddlery, furniture and farm sundries at full market rates. AUCTION SALES ANNUAL CATTLE FAIR, The fourth annual cattle fair in Palmerston North will bo held on Tuesday, October 1 7th, when Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., and the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., will sell 3800 well-bred cattle of mixed ages and sexes. The stock is being offered on behalf of Mr R, A. McKenzie, and buyers will bo afforded an opportunity of picking up some really good lines, the animals being a well-selcctod lot. The sale will tako place at a quarter to ono, at the new saleyards in Boundary Road, and a larjje gathering is anticipated. • Full particulars will bo advertised later.

Mr J. Newton, 6enr., having leased his farm at Shannon, has instructed Messrs Abraham and Williams to conduct a clearing .sale on the property on Tuesday next. The lines include cows in milk and closo to profit, heifers, yearlings, a bull, pigs, and implements. Luncheon will be provided, tho salo commencing at 1 p.m. Those desirous of augmenting their herds or plant will do well to attend the sale. Harry Palmer advertises a clearing salo of furniture, to bo held on Wednesday, October 4th, on account of Mrs H. Couper. H.ivry Palmer sells as usual to-morrow, at his mart, at 1 o'clock sharp. There is a special entry of unreserved produce comprising oats,'barley,'wheat, straw chall', oated chaff, rhubarb, milkfloat phateon?. Mounsey and Co. advertise two sales which they are conducting in the lir'st week of next month. Full particulars will be advertised by the auctioneers in a later issue.
