JOHNSON-WELLS BATTLE.
SUMMONSES ISSUED. (By Eleotbio Telegbaph-Copihight.) (Peb Phess: Association,) ' LONDON, Sept. Johnson and Wolls havo signed an agreement, to box under National Sporting Club rules, in order to prove that the issue at stake is the right to box. Wells, interviewed on tho subject, said that if the match was stopped in London it would be transferred to Paris. Mr White, the promoter of tho match, states that if its legality is uphold tho contest will proceed. If it is decided that the match is illegal it will finish the sport in England. Tho newspaper Sporting Life says that, even if the promoter is bound over and the match proceeds, no subsequent legal action can be taken unless an illegality lo causo a breach of the peace occurs. Riccived Sept. 27, 11.15 a.m. Summonses have been granted against Johnson and Wells for contemplating a breach of the peace, and against tho th-ee promoters for abetting. They aro returnable to-morrow.
