Kenneth Armstrong, who pleaded guilty in tho lower court to a chargo of false pretences, was admitted to a year's probation, and ordered to pay £7"l0 in restitution, and costs. Samuel Wilson, for breaking and entering, was sent to a reformatory for twelve months, to be then released if the authorities considered him a fit subject for discharge. HOKITIKA HARBOUR WORKS. HOKITIKA, June 16, At a meeting of the llokitika Harbour Board to-night, tenders for tho extension of the north and south walls at the entrance to tho llokitika River were dealt with. Tho lender'of Mr J. O'Donneli for tho north wall (£8711), and that of Mr J. Fitzgerald (£6887) for tho south wall were accepted. The engineer's estimates were, respectively, £8668 and £6696). The tenders wore accepted conditionally on tho proposed works being approved' by tho Government. CHEFFIEED CHOIR. DUNEDIN, June 16. The SheOield Choir will givo its concerts in Duncdin in tho tramway shed, Market street. It was at first proposed to utilise (ho Harbour Board's now shed on the wharf, but this has been found to bo unsuitable for tho purpose.
