KELVIN GROVE.

Saturday* Ono or two vory sharp frosts have been experienced m tlio district, but taking it all round, the weather is vory mild, except for last Sunday, which was most boisterous. Boring; operations uro still in progress at Mr Wilslier's. Water was found within two feet of where Rev. Mason predicted, but as. the How was not considered big enough it was decided to boro fui'thor, Farmers in the district aro making strong complaints about the shooting' parties that invade their paddocks. When a man mistalws a sheep for a hare it is timo ho handed his gun over to someono else. It is most annoying the farmer to find his stock slaughtered in this way, and with a littlo caro on the part of tho huntsman surely these mistakes could bo avoided.

Last Monday evening the Bunnythorpo combined team visited tho Grovo team, and tho aichro tournament was in evidence, which resulted in a win for tho Grovo toam of 87 to 63._ Although tho scoros show a big majority most of the tables wero very even, being five all or six to four. It was a perfect night and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.' After supper was dispensed with, Mr Duthio, as captain of tho visiting team, thanked their hosts and hostesses for tho enjoyable evoning spent, and Mr Pawson, our skipper, ably responded. On Wednesday evening some of our players went to Stonoy Creek for a game, which resulted in Mrs Gawith winning tho prize. The samo evening at Rushlands a kitchen progressive euchre ovening was given to Miss Wilshcr, in view of her approaching marriago. The kitchen utensils wero both useful and vaued, and after they had been admired progressive euchre occupied tho visitors, and as a result tho first prizes wero won by Miss Tait and Mr Burgate, and the booby prizes bv Miss Piorccy and Mr Divonall. Aftor.supper tho room was cleared for music and games, and all went till tho wee small hours when Aula Lang Syno" brought a very jolly evening to a close. _

Mr and Mrs Prentice have gone to tho South Island for a trip, and Mesdames floaley and Morgan have return®rom a visit to Rotorua. Mr Albert Wilshei ia on a visit to Wellbury. _ Next Friday evening tliero is another flutter at tho euchro tournament when special prizes will be presented by Air and Mrs Bramlcy, and supper is provided by each lady bringing a basket. Our usual fortnightly assembly was another pronounced success. A portect niorht greeted us, and wo had many visitors from town and tho surrounding _ districts. Mr Small presided at tho pinao, and his music greatly helped to make the danco go with zest and 6\ving. Mr I arsons acted as M.C.
