RAISING FUNDS FOR THE SCHOOL.
Juno 15. The concert held last night in aid of the school funds proved a great success, the public turning out in big numbers. The hall was comfortably filled, and the following programmo, submitted by tho "Royal Jesters Comedy Company" _ of Palmerston North, was thoroughly enjoyed:—Piano solo. Miss Myrtle Turner; song, "The Windmill," Mr Taylor; recitation, "The Whistler," Mr Oliver; song, "You Had Bettor Ask Me," Miss Burgess;, song, "Down the Vale," Mr Oldfield; banjo solo, Mr Pike; duet, "Money Matters," Miss and Mr Dahl; recitation, "Tommy Atkin's Autograph," Mr Palliser; quartette, "Damo Durden," Misses Dahl and Burgess, Messrs Taylor and I-laydon; piano duot, Miss Dahl and Mi: Whitehead; song, "Tipperary Christening," Mr Piko; trio, "A Little Farm Well Tilled," Messrs Taylor, liaydon, and Dahl; song, "Tho Swallows," Miss Burgees; recitation, "A Country Squire," Mr Palliscr; song, "Thora," Mr Oldfield; recitation, "Snorkings," Mr Oliver; song, "Doreen," Mr Taylor; banjo solo, Mr Pike; comedy, "The Doctor's Patient," tho characters being: "Dr Truclove," Mr Havdon: "Dolly" (his wife). Mis? Wndsworth; "Aunt Maria Tibbie," Miss Dahl; "Uncfo Jeremiah Pipkin," Mr Oliver; ''Dooley" (man servant), Mr Palliscr. Tho whole performance went with a. good swing and is one of tho best seen out here, but premier place must bo given to "Tho Doctor's Patient," tho whole house being kept in roars of laughter. / - At the interval Mr Jones (chairman of tho school committee) proposed a hearty vote of thanks, which was carried by ■acclamation, to . the friends who had so kindly come forward to assist the committo'o in raising funds for 60 deserving a cause, and at the same time, asked tho parents to show.a.little more interest in educational arid school matters generally,, and so assist tho. committee in their upliill climb, , and ho hoped that at the, next election of the School , pommitteo to see a good mlister,'aiKl. se©-,if some new blood: could not ;bo .'infused-:into .it. -: After the cweert the visitors were entertained . 'at a dance. At- midnight supper was served,-, after which the dancing'was continued till 2 a.m. -v?" Tho committee, as/a lwdyi'liave.,-worked, hard,- and-' great credit is duo-to Messrs Turner, Woolley, and McCall, who constituted tho sub-committee which had the management of. the. concert, as far as Rongotea was concerned. .
