' BLENHEIM, Doc. 30. The Marlborough lawn tennis championshipe and handicaps were continued to-day in perfect weather. Special fea--1 tuers of the'day's play were the games in which the lady competitors were engaged. Mies Ledger and Miss worth in the doubles put up a great" contest with Mies Travers and Mies wood, and almost had the champions beaten. Miss Batham and Miss Simpson _ in the single championship round played" exceptionally well, and after the game received a great ovation. Some of the finals will be completed to-morrow. Fieher was not at his best to-day, suffering defeat at the hands of Sniythe. Results: — Ladies' Single Championship, firet round. —Miss A. Batham beat Miss Brewster 6—2, 6 —4.
