TWO CAKE PRECIPES. • RICH SEED CAKE—Take a pound and a quarter «i : flour, well dried, a pound oi : butter, a pound of loaf sugar, beaten and sifted, eight eggs, and 2oz of caraway seeds, one grated nutmeg and its weight in cinnamon. Beat the butter into a cream, put in the sugar, beat the whites of the eggs and the yolks separately; then mix them with the butter and sugar. Beat in the flour, spices and seed a little before you put it in the oven. Bake for two hours in a quick oven. SIMPLE HOCK CAKES—Take a half-pound of flour, and hub into it four ounces of 'butter; add four ounces of castor sugar; four ounces of sultana raisins, a little ground ginger, a pinch of salt, half a teaspoonful of baking powder, one beaten egg, and, if wanted, a tablespoonful of milk. This should make a comparatively dry dough. Put out on a well-gi'reased baking sheet, in pieces the size of a walnut. Bake in rather a quick oven for ten minutes. And for the tea try the Elephant brand at 2s 2d, it's good.—lt is a rich strong tea, with plenty of body, a fine texture and of .superior drinking qualities. It is a delicious tea to serve to guests, or for every day family use. Obtainable from most grocers.—Advt.
