PAYMENT OF .OFFICERS. ARBITRATION COURT CLAIM. (By Electbio Telegraph—Copyright. ) (Pee Press Association.) Received Nov. 8, 9.20 a.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 8. .. The Merchant Service Guild has applied to the Federal Arbitration Court for increased pay for masters and. officers. It asks that salaries for masters of passenger vessels be fixed at £26 to £50 a month; cargo vessels £25 to £39, according to classification,' with other concessions in regard to allowances and hours of duty. On behalf of the applicants the statement is made that when it is remembered that the masters' responsibility extended over the whole 24 hours, the ; salary out at 8d to Is 4d per hour, chief officers to Is sd, and junior officers 6d. The claim also practically involves preference to members of the Guild.
