There was a representative and enthusiastic gathering; ■ In the course of hie speech Mr Wade appealed to Liberals who had the welfare of the country. at heart to copy the example of the Labourites ,in the matter of organisation. It was no use making spasmodic efforts to win an election. ; They must work from year's end to year's end. He declared himself strongly opposed to 'the Constitution alterations to be submitted by the Federal Government to ,the electors by referendum in March next. If . Mr McGowen will hold • out against them, Mr Wade promisee to stand behind him. UNIFORM RAILWAY GAUGE. MELBOURNE, Nov. 8. It is- understood that Mr Hughes proposes to submit to the States proposals for a uniform railway gauge of 4ft 8 2 inches. WHY BOWLING WAS RELEASED. ~~SYDNEY, Nov. 8. Mr McGowen states that Peter Bowling was liberated as a Trades Unionist, who had suffered for the miners' cause, and should not have been sent to gaol as a Trades Unionist.
