ADDINGTON. (Peh PbeßS Association.) CHRISTCHURGHr, Oct. 5. At the Addington stock sales there were moderate entries of stock and a good attendance. Fat cattle were firm aj; late rates. Store hoggets sold well, but ewes and lambs were not in such good demand. Fat lambe showed a sharp nee in , values, and fat sheep opened firm at the previous week's rates. Pigs were in good demand. Prices for both store and dairy cattle were easier. The entry of store sheep was not quite equal to last week's in point of numbers, and was made up chiefly of hoggets, ewes, and lambs. There was keen demand for hoggets, but continued dry weather affected the sale of ewes and lambs, and they sold below late rates. Ewe hoggets sold up to 15s 9d, wether hoggets to 13s 6d, and mixed sexes to 13s 6d, and small wether hoggets to 9s 9d, aged ewes and lambe 7s 9d to Bs, and e.m. ewe and lambs 9s 9d all counted. The entry of fat lambs totalled 157, or rather less than last week. The quality was good, and there was a sharp advance in prices. Best sorts made 15s to lbs 3d, and smaller Us to 14s 6d. Tho yarding of fat sheep was a comparatively small one, and the quality was hardly so good as the previous eale. It consisted mainly of crossbred and halfbred wethers, with odd lines of ewes and merino wethers, there being more of the latter than of late. The market opened under keen competition, at pi-ices fully up to the level of last week's rates, and in some cases over. The range of prices for prime wethers was 21s to 25e 3d, extra to 335, lighter 15s 8d to 20s, prim© ewes 19s 3d to 25s 3d, others 13s lid to 19s, hoggets 15s Id to 18s 9d, prime merino wethers 15s-Ud to 21s. The supply of beef totalled 182 head, or about the same as the previous week, but the quality showed a falling off. The demand was keen and late rates were firmly maintained. Steers made ho Tie 6d to £14 15s, heifers £5 10s to £10 7s 6d, and cows £4 15s to ,£ll ss, equal to 30s to'33s, aild in some cases to 35e for prime; second quality 295, and inferior 26s to 28s per 1001b. , There was a large yarding of veal calves, which sold at a decline of 5s per head, in consequence of over supply, prices ranging from 4s to 40s and up to £4 for yearlings. Store cattle were dull of sale on account of the dry weather, and prices were easier. Yearlings made £1 10s to £2 2s 6d, 2-year steers and. heifers, £4 10e, and dr,y cows £2 10s and £4 6s. Dairy cows were also easier, and several of the best were passed in. Prices forged from £2 10s to £8 12s 6d.

The yarding of pigs was an average one. Prime baconers were in specially good demand, and porkers also sold well, but stores were dull of sale, a large supplv being on offer. Heavy baconers made £2 8s to £3 and lighter £2 2s to ,£2 7s 6d, equal to 4id per lb, large porkers £1 18s to £2 Is, and lighter £1 8s to £1 17s 6d, equal to 4|d per lb, large stores 18s to £1 2s 6d, smaller 14s to 17s 6d, and weanere 5s 6d to 9s.
