ESCAPEES FROM GAUL.
ONE STILL AT LABGE. (Per Press Association.) • INVERCARGILL, April 11. Two prisoners,' Albert Stockbridge, aged 22, serving eighteen months tor breaking into the Carterton railway station, arid Joseph Howie, aged IS, serving twelve months, one of a band who committed fifteen burglaries in Wellington, and was arrested at Happy Valley'with a revolver in his possession, escaped from the gaol gang at three o'clock this afternoon. After an exciting chase, Howie was captured five miles out by Gaoler Hawkins. Stockbridge gained the shelter of the btxeh near the racecourse, and darkness cut pursuit short. Men wore posted all night, and search will be resumed 111 the morning, when I -S capture is almost certain.
