ENTERTAINMENTS.

HAYWARD'S PICTURES. I Hayward's Pictures at the Zealandia Hall are steadily gaining in popular favour. At the matinee last Saturday the large hall was taxed to the utmost of its seating capacity. Hundreds of children from all parts of the town could be seen wending their way to the "Home of Pictures." The subjects are all good, and splendidly screened, the programmes being carefully chosen and up-to-date, so that all lovers of moving pictures may bo sure of getting a night's good entertainment. The prices arc within the reach of everyone. To-night is the last night but one of the present excellent programme, which includes the fine picture, "The Galley Slave," one of the best of its kind ever screened, founded on one of Victor Hugo's great works. This picture is enhanced by the singing of "He Wipes the Tea from Every Eye" by Miss Florence Hay ward. Among other subjects of interest to the public is the "Burmese Milk Supply," being an industrial film of great educational value to farmers and dairymen; and if one wants to drive away the Powelka gloom which is hanging over Palmerston at present we strongly recommend everyone to see "A Sticky Proposition," "Wouldn't It Tire You," and "The Uncontrollable Motor Cycle." The management intend to throw a picture of Powelka on the screen to-night. THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. A fine programme is being screened at the Opera House just now, and is drawing very good attendances. The star picture, is entitled "The Rocky Road," and it is an excellent sample of the fare the Thompson-Payne management treat their patrons to. Then there is "The Way of tho Cross," and in the scenic section a wonderful glimpse of the famous Rhine with its magnificent eccnerj. The comic department is, as usual, /a very amusing one and roars of laughtpr follow the escapades of the. characters. The programme will be repeated tonight.
