PUTTING THE BRAKE ON.
A NOVEL PROPOSAL. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Per Press Associations Received April 9, 9.45 a.m. SYDNEY, April 9. A novel proposal was made at aineeting of the Seaham Miners' Lodge, Newcastle, for the purpose of effecting the release of the labour leaders. It is contained in the following notice of motion:—"We, members of the Miners' Federation, find that the severe mental strain incurred through the imprisonment of our leaders, along- with the arduous nature of our work, is having an effect in making us physically incapable of performing work. Therefore we resolve that in order to safeguard our health we do not produce more than a certain amount of coal per day until the release of our leaders." The" originator of the notice eaid they all knew they had to work, but ho proposed that no man should do more than sufficient to earn fair etriko pay.
