PANIC ON AN, EMIGRANT SHIP.
COAL BUNKERS AFIRE. PROMPT MEASURES BY THE CREW. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) *Fer Peess Association.) LONDON, April 8. The Newcastle liner Cayinronfc was bound for America, with nine hundred Russians and Armenians on board, when it was discovered that tho coal bunkers wore on fire. The discovery was made when the vessel was off Beachy Head. An explosion blew the hatch to pieces, injuring twenty. A panic followed, and many men attempted to rush tho women's boats. One woman's spine was broken, but the British crew, using determined meaeuree, prevented a disaster. They knocked men down right and left. Four jumped overboard, but were reecucd. Finally all were transferred to other steamers The Prince and Princess Louis of Batrenburg personally served food to the famished emigrants on their landing at, Dover pier. Received April 9, 10.20 a.m. LONDON, April 8. Seventy were injured by the explosion on the Cairn Rona, many seriously. The immigrants are coming to London for transhipment. A MUTINY SUPPRESSED. Received April 9, 9.40 a.m. LONDON, April 8. Marines boarded the steamer Kanawha and suppressed a mutiny among the Cairn Rona's passengers who were refusing to rejoin the Cairn Rona.
