(Peb Press Association'.) AUCKLAND, April 8. The business done at first call included:—Mav Queen 4s 3d, New Sylvia 4s 7d to 4s 4d, Waiotahi 4s 2d, "VVaitangi 2s Id, Progress 14s 3d, Hauraki 3s 7d. Talieman 52s 6cl to 52s 9d, Waihi Extended 2s 9d, Grand Junction 31s 9d. The starting of the Thames deep level crosscut is one step nearer, as the last of the Companies, the May Queon, has signed the deed of covenant. This will be followed by the payment right away of the £2400 contribution. As the agreement stipulates that work shall not begin_ until all the contributions are paid, this will remove the last reason for further delay. At present the No. 9 level from the Queen of Beauty shaft is Hooded, and until that is unwatered work at the 1000 ft level cannot be started.
