HAWKE'S BAY SHOW.

THE PRINCIPAL COMPETITIONS

(Per Peess Association.)

NAPIER, April 6. The Autumn Show of the Hawko's Bay A. and P. was held at Hastings to-day in fine weather, and was largely attended. The show was strong in farm, orchard, and garden products. The display of grapes and wines from Aratahi Experimental Farm, Havelock North, was on a plane by itself, and was described by good judges as being probably the finest collection of the kind ever shown in the North Island, if not in the Dominion. There were only two entries in the district exhibits competition, but both were excellent, and the Puketapu branch of the Farmers' Union won with 377-1 points, Hastings branch of the Union scoring 334 A points. The principal competitions resulted as follows:— Ladies' leaping match.— C. Hart's Playboy 1. Fourteen entries. Playboy was ridden by Miss Brandon, of Wairoa. Out of the eight competitions in which he has taken part, Playboy has scored seven firsts. Pony leaping match.—Miss Mackersey's Nobby 1. Maiden leaping match.—Hassal and Troutbeck's Lady Madcaw 1.
