Tho ship's papers, official log book and chart in use at tho time of the disaster wore saved from the Pericles. The chief steward also saved all the valuables entrusted to him by the passengers for the voyage. Tho tug Vigilant after the disaster experienced terrible weather. She was under water half the time, and saw a large quantity of apples and other cargo from the wreck strewn about.
