On "Wednesday evening at the Pohangina Town Hall, before a packed r.udience, the presentation of an illuminated address and silver tea service was made to Mr and Mre Alfred Peart on the occasion of their leating the Pohangina Valley. Mr R. W. Brown, Chairman of the Pohangina County Council, in making the presentation, referred to the many good qualities possessed by Mr and Mrs Peart— especially their neighbourliness—and on behalf of the residents wished theni Godspeed and prosperity in their new home at Raglan. Messrs A A. Wagstaff and J. Matthews also made kindly reference to Mr and Mrs Peart's residence in the Valley. In reply Mr Peart said he regretted leaving the Valley, and desired on behalf of himself, Mrs Peart and family, to thank the residents for their kindness and generosity. He said he would take with him many kindly thoughts and feelings for the people he was leaving behind. During the evening musical items were rendered by several ladies and gentlemen, and a sumptuous supper was provided by the ladies of the district. The gathering broke up with cheers for -Air and Mrs Peart.
