PALMERSTON BRASS BAND.
FIE ST MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The General Committee of the Palmeraton Brass Band held its first meeting last night, when there were present—Messrs W. Park (president), F. J. Nathan, J. Mounsey, H. Palmer, C. Dunk, C. N. Clausen, F. Kendall, B. Bowater, J. Piper, W. Pike, Beamish, Burfitt; conductor Conway, and E. R. B. Holben, lion, secretary. Donations of gold medals were received from Mr C. N. Clausen for the best soloist; from Mr H. Palmer for junior player making most progress in the next.six months; from Mr C. Dunk for the bandsman turning out the smartest on all parades; Mr A. E. Clausen for competition to be decided by bandsmen; Mr Mounsey for bandsman making best attendances between April Ist and December 31st. Mr Kendall gives a silver medal for second best dn the last mentioned competition. It was decided that the General Committee meet every three months, and that it consist of all band committees and vice-presidents. Honorary members' subs, were fixed at. 10s per annum, which .will entitle them to three tickets for any concert by the Band, which will be transferable, while £1 Is subscription will entitle them to seven tickets for each concert. Two hundred tickets are to be printed. A draft of the fresh rules was gone into exhaustively, and has been relegated to a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Park, Nathan, Holben, Conway, and Capt. Palmer to approve and submit to a general meeting for confirmation.
