A PLEASANT FUNCTION.

AN ECHO FROM ALL NATIONS FAIR. PRESENTATION TO THE MAYORESS. There wae a gay assemblage at the Empire Hall last night, when a social and dance was given by the stallholders of the All Nations Fair in honour of the Mayoress (who had initiated the movement) and tho Mayor, who had worked so hard to make it a success. There was a very large attendance of both stallholders and their friends, and a merry timo was spent in dancing and mueic, and an excellent supper was provided by tho ladies. During an interval in tho evening's pleasure the Mayoress was presented with a handsome dressing caso from her fellow-workers in the Fair as a token of the esteem and respect in which she was held. Mr D. Buick, . M.P., in making the presentation, spoke of the great success of the Fair, which, he said, emanated from the brain of Mrs Naeh. The cause was a worthy one, and Mrs Naeh would Jive to seo the relief afforded to women eufferers by the consumptive annexe, and future generations would remember her with gratitude If Mrs Nash wero Mayoress for the next ten years and did nothing more for the town she would have something to look back on with pride.

Crs. W. Stubbs and H. Haydon, who were both members of the Hospital Board, also referred to tho great success achieved by the Fair, and congratulated Mrs Nash on the splendid results.

The Mayor returned thanks on bohalf of Mrs Nash, and said that he felt very proud of the euccess which had attended the efforts of his wife and- all ladies and gentlemen who had worked in connection with the Fair, but it was not right that all the praise should go to one person, where so many had given their time and energy. Mr Naeh made special mention of the splendid work done by Mrs Grant and the children under her, and also mentioned the good. services rendered by Mr P. C. Hanley's band. He thanked them very heartily for the presentation,, and said that both he and Mrs Nash would have many pleasant recollections in looking back at the Fair. He quoted figures showing that during tho last four years the Hospital had received from Palmereton the sum of £2800. In conclusion he read a letter from the Hospital Board thanking Mrs Nash and all those who had brought the Fair to such a successful issue.

Mr P. C. Hanley's band was preeent, and contributed selections of music besides supplying the dance music, all of which was greatly appreciated.
