A sub-committee of the House of Representatives decided against honouring Commander Peary until he submits proof. Members questioned the accuracy of his statement that hie marches averaged 26 miles from leaving Capt. Bartlett to the Pole, and 44 miles daily until he rejoined Capt. Bartlett, whereas the greatest speed before and after was nine miles daily. I i
