FALSE INVOICES.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 10. At the Polico Court Hugh Douglas Guthrie, indent agent, with headquarters m Duncdin, was charged that on November 23, at Dunedin, he made a false declaration of goods upon a false invoice. Defendant admitted the offence but satisfied the Court that though lie %vas supplied with the invoices by an English firm they were not sent at his request. The law admits no such excuse, but the Court thought the case would bo met by tho minimum penalty of £25.
