Mr George Frohman is producing the late George Meredith's unfinished comedy,' "The Sentimentalists." PARIS. Feb. 8.
M. Rostand's play, "The Chanticleer," Was produced in Paris in the presence of a brilliant audience. The production includes 150 marvellous costumes of cocks, hens, --heasants, blackbirds, owls, etc., and cost £28,000. The fantastic satire on human follies and the lyrical fervour and verve of the music created a deep impression despite the eccentric setting of the play. Madame Simone, Jean Coquelin, and Sidney, an Australian actor as the "Gamecock," wore great successes.
