Becoming mentally unbalanced from reading literature pertaining to bacteriology and germs, Francis Loughren, of No. "79, Willow street, .Yonkers, N.Y., was committed some 18 months ago to the Middlotown Asylum for the Insane. He escaped on Tuesday, November 16, and came to his home in Yonkers. An attendant who was assigned to take the patient back to the institution came to that place next day,, but accepted ..an invitation to remain overnight and start for Middletown nest day. Shortly after midnight the attendant awoke to find Loughren bending over him with a razor in his hand. He sprang from the bed and the two men fought desperately until a policeman,,, who was sumfnonecf by a member, of the family, arrived just in time to save the attendant, who was rapidly losing strength. Loughren was menacled and was taken back to the asylum.
